Radical Transparency

We show you exactly
what we paid.

Most roasters hide behind opaque "direct trade" claims. We publish our actual FOB prices — every farm, every harvest — so you can see how far above the C-market commodity floor we pay. We believe that radical transparency is the only honest answer to a supply chain built on inequality. Trust isn't claimed; it's earned line by line.

Why we publish our prices

The global C-market price for Arabica coffee is a commodity benchmark, not a living wage. When the C-market trades at $2.28 per pound — the floor we use as our baseline — millions of smallholder farmers struggle to cover the true cost of production. We don't accept that as inevitable.

Our sourcing model starts where the C-market ends. We layer a quality premium on top of the baseline to reward the precise, painstaking work that separates a 90-point lot from a commercial blend. Then we add a direct-trade bonus: compensation for the relationship itself, for the multi-year commitment that lets a farmer plan, invest, and sleep soundly in October.

Publishing these numbers isn't a marketing exercise. It's an accountability mechanism — for us and for you. When you see the actual FOB price we paid in Yirgacheffe last harvest, you're holding us to a standard we've set ourselves. We think that's exactly how it should work.
